It's been hellaciously hot in the Mile High City so my morning walks would have to exhaust me before 7 a.m. or I'd have to huff and puff my way through 2 miles in nearly 75 degree weather. That may not be a big deal for a workout buff but I cannot commit to something that gets me all heated and do it in the heat. Nah, not my thing. So I whined and complained about not getting my workouts in and how bored I'd become with my tae bo DVD that Babe finally went to our nearby gym and signed us up. Niiiiice. I was thrilled to know I could go burn off some of those pizza slices in the cool, air conditioned facility that is all of 2 minutes away.
At first I wondered if I just loved the idea of having a gym membership. It's all good if you go! But so far so good. I've been doing cardio and I love the 'high' I get from it about 10 minutes into my workout. I love the sweat pouring down my face and knowing how much good I'm doing myself. Not only that, I probably inhale so much deeper that my brain functions so much better. It is fantastic. Somehow I've become addicted to the gym, so much so that one day I'll have to have my very own fitness equipment set up in the basement...that kind of high a mere 10 stairs away? Sign me up.
But for now I enjoy getting out of the house for about an hour to just "do me", and I love it. I don't know how I've evolved into this salad munching gym rat but even if I didn't lose another ounce for the rest of my life, I'm hooked on the gym and all the good that comes of a good, long, hard workout.
