Man, we're three days in and December has been pretty relaxing thus far. Yeah, thus far. No, this year I am going to take things as they come and whatever we are able to give on Christmas Day will simply have to be enough. I think by allotting everyone close to us a small amount of money toward their gift helps me keep things in perspective. And for once in a long time I can finally get Babe something nice, that's got me happy as a pig in...mud. So maybe this year will actually be different, where Happy actually describes how I feel about the Holidays.
Last year was not cute. I spent 18 or so days of December enjoying baking cookies, hanging out with the fam, and doing as much shopping as I could afford to...which was not much. Then we were hit with that horrific blizzard that left behind three feet of snow. We had NOTHING for the kids. And we couldn't get out to shop because the roads were terrible and most everything was closed! I panicked, I'll admit it. But please believe I learned a valuable lesson that year: shop as early as you can. This weekend I plan on getting the majority of it done...no waiting around. We ended up slipping and sliding to Toys R Us, Walmart and Target hoping to find what the kids had asked for. I even had to have my mom pick up the train Nas wanted where she lives an hour away! Never again.
Oh no, not this time. I've got my list ready and for some I'll shop this weekend and the rest will be bought next weekend and I'll be done. And even better, a couple of gifts were ordered online so they should be in my hot little hands soon. Don't you just love a holiday season with a plan? It just doesn't get better than this.
Happy Holidays is something we say often, but this year make yours as Happy as you can...take a few gifts off the list or just grab a gift card or two while you're out...friends and family will love it and you'll get to ring in the New Year relaxed and refreshed. Now that's what I call Happy Holidays.
