Looking to the Weekend

After all of the shopping (and standing in line), preparation and anticipation before Thanksgiving last week, it dawned on me today that I am thrilled for this weekend to come. Last week was full of checking recipes, verifying the pantry held all necessary ingredients, getting out of town to my parents' house and of course actually preparing all of that wonderful Thanksgiving dinner food. It was a lot of work, so much that I found myself apparently exhausted when on Sunday morning I slept until 10. I'm so thankful that our day of thanks has passed.

This weekend we have very few plans, none that involve packing or an hour drive, and it's supposed to be cold and maybe even snowing. I'm so happy we will be able to rent a few Christmas movies to watch with the kiddos and just put our feet up and enjoy our little family.

We aren't ready, yet, to buy anything for gift-giving so that's one load off. No reason to join the masses for seemingly endless store-hopping to find just the right something for family and friends. I'm by no means anxious to do that anyway...so maybe this is our little window of time to simply enjoy the season the way I always hope to: with my family, good food, and plenty of time to watch the snow fall from my family room sofa.
