Pee-Pee on the Potty

It's March 20, 2007, and in 10 days my son will officially be one month shy of 2 1/2 years old. By now my little princess was wearing Dora the Explorer panties like a champ! So why is it so incredibly hard for Nas to put pee-pee in the potty??

I'm not asking much (or am I?). I just want the boy to spend most of his day putting his waste in something other than a disposable diaper with Blue from Blue's Clues on it! Every time I point the car in the direction of Super Target to buy diapers I cuss. Every time I park in front of Super Target with a diaper purchase as my mission, I cuss. Every time I walk toward the aisle with the diapers, I cuss. And would you guess it, when I shell out the cash to pay for said diapers, I cuss. So imagine my dismay when, even after we talk about pee-pee in the potty all morning, his diaper is soaked? Granted, I don't cuss but it sure does make me wonder when the little peeing machine I birthed will finally put his bottom on the toilet and produce something!!

Two and a half and a boy, sure, maybe boys are slower and I'm all for allowing the kid to take his time and do things his way but when, exactly, will his way take affect? When will this child decide to, as he would say, do it on his own? I've only potty-trained one child, a very smart little girl who wanted independence, even at two, more than she wanted food. So maybe I've got low expectations for my own ability to train a stubborn little boy who's a-ok with a sopping wet diaper or a stench that can fill a room before the poop fills his diaper. On the one hand I know he won't go to kindergarten with a diaper on, but at the same time, the kid's six months shy of 3. Come on. I just can't SEE changing poopy diapers or steamy hot pee-pee ones come July in Colorado, I mean really. But I guess the ball really is in his court. Jay did decide right before her second birthday that she wanted to use the potty, all the time without fail. SHE decided that. She had the tools and after a few months I guess she just wanted those Dora panties badly enough...

So I'm just praying, praying without ceasing, that Nas will want those Lighting McQueen and Superman "panties" (as he calls his undies) badly enough to put his buns on the seat and just pee-pee on the potty...I'll deal with the poop later!!

It's tough! We started slowly PT-ing Olivia last summer. We never pushed it except for that very first week. She's still not completel PT'ed but it doesnt seem like its been that long. We had to back off because the baby was born and we backed off recently again because she woudlnt poop in the potty and was starting to get really weirded out and stressed and peeing in her panties again. We put her in pull-ups again for a week and guess who's 90% trained? Olivia! They're ready when they're ready. But I agree. I'm tired of changing her big ol 2.5 yr old stinky butt!! Compared to my 5.5 month old baby, it just seems wrong! Blehh!!! Stench!!!mozia312
