Last winter was fairly painless: we didn't get a lot of snow, the sun warmed from the East most days (you gotta love Colorado!!), and it wasn't nearly as cold as the previous winter was. I typically hate winter, but Winter 2008 was very bearable.
Then came Spring 2009. Now that was the winter I never care for. It was cold, windy, tons of snow fell and after a warm winter I was out of "typical winter" practice. So when it snowed, a LOT, in March and April I thought I'd have to pack up and head South. Although May was really quite warm and summer-like, June bit back with cooler weather, a lot of rain and it even snowed early June. And they say global warming doesn't exist. Ha!
Well once we finally settled into summer I really enjoyed it. I'm a couple of shades darker to prove it! I relaxed a LOT. I got out of my routine - which is very, very bad for a Virgo who loves order. I spent afternoons out on my front lawn chatting with my neighbor-friends. When the day started to cool the fam and I would go out and play some baseball or Babe and I would walk while the kids rode their bikes. The lazy days of summer.
Then came vacation which we spent in Disneyland. This really threw me off - way off. I got use to hopping out of bed knowing someone would come in and tidy up for us - for this I gladly tipped. We would eat out at every meal - we were in a hotel after all! No dishes to wash, no laundry to launder, no care in the world aside from "What time does the park open?" It was bliss and I brought bliss home with me.
A lot of good that did. You can't expect the housekeeper to handle your room business when you don't have a housekeeper at home. There is no one to wash dishes at home BUT mommy (and daddy when all else fails!) And all else did fail for awhile - I just couldn't get back in the swing of things!! I wanted to eat out - it's so much easier. The laundry basket stood nearly as tall as me and I wondered, "How did THOSE get there?!" I even mourned my blissful vacation days. But now, finally, it's time to move on.
I enjoyed this summer in a way I don't remember enjoying any previously, but I'm glad summer is officially over. Now I can get back to reality: handling household business, preparing clothes for the week, cleaning up after my kids making sure they don't get salmonella from the filthiness of their bathroom, and making a dinner menu for the week. It's business as usual at our house, and this mama is so thankful for the order brought back into my life!

Yes, order truly makes me happy. But I sure do love the care free days of summer too. Oh well, we definitely needed to get back on schedule over here.
